Rhetorical Situation English II

Speaker You, you are you – 10 years into the future.
You’re trying to pitch a product to your dream company (this company is the company to whom the ad that you brought in belongs).

Occasion It is The economy tanked in 2018 but has since begun to recover. People are still nervous about spending their money on “fun” items though, so companies such as Apple, Nike, Lululemon, etc. experienced a drop in profits, though this is rebounding. Most people do have jobs though, either part-time or full-time. The relationship of the USA with other global economies is stronger now than it has been for 40 years. We especially do trading with China, India, and Germany. Many global companies, such as Pepsi, Nike, Coca-Cola, Apple, and Nestle, to name a few, have an established presence in these global markets.

Audience The company to whom you are marketing the product. They are an established company, they’ve been around for over 100 years. They are a hard company to sell to because they are picky about the product they choose to buy. The CEO is especially known for being hard to pitch to. This is your first big sales pitch, so there is pressure to land the sale This company generally sells products to people in their late teens and early-mid twenties.

Purpose You want to land the sale of your product. This will enable you to a) make money off this product b) to work on creating new products.

Subject Whatever the item is that you are trying to market.

Your Challenge: Write a 3 paragraph argumentative speech “selling your product” to Company X. Your intro should have a hook and clear thesis Your body paragraph should strongly “sell” the product through the use of logos, ethos, and pathos. Your conclusion should reiterate the strongest points of your product and convince the company that they would benefit from your product. Show them why your product matters.
