5 What are literary devices used for in writing?
Words and phrases in literary texts that writers use to achieve artistic or creative expression. Literary techniques also help readers to visualize, understand and appreciate literature. Irony Alliteration Metaphor Symbolism Allusion Onomatopeia Personification Hyperbole

6 Explanation of fortunes
Personification: Assigning human-like qualities to inanimate objects. Alliteration: The occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words. Symbolism:  The practice or art of using an object or a word to represent an abstract idea. An action, person, place, word, or object can all have a symbolic meaning. Metaphor: A comparison of two unlike things that says one thing is another. This literary device does not use like or as. Simile: A comparison of two unlike things, using like or as. Onomatopeia A word that imitates the natural sounds of a thing. It creates a sound effect that mimics the thing described, making the description more expressive and interesting. Hyperbole Exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally. Allusion A brief and indirect reference to a person, place, thing or idea of historical, cultural, literary or political significance. It does not describe in detail the person or thing to which it refers. Explanation of fortunes

The magic conch says, “Always use literary devices to enhance our writing.” Today, you will: Make fortune tellers for literary devices. Use your fortune teller to collect three literary devices to use within your narrative writing. Write down your fortune each time and utilize the literary devices at the beginning, middle and end of your narrative.
