HTTP – Protocol – a standard procedure for regulating data transmission between computers HTTP is a standard between a client (end user) and a server (web site). The client makes an HTTP request and the information requested transmits across the world wide web. The Internet searches for the requested information and returns the information.

4 How do search engines display relevant advertisements?
Through the use of search advertising, Internet marketers place online advertisement on web pages that show results from search engine queries. Through this same service, ads can also be placed on web pages with other published content.

Keywords, used by the user of a search engine, is the major component of search advertising.

6 Explain 2 ways in which the number of visitors to web sites can be increased.
SEO – search engine optimization. Guide the development of a website so it naturally attracts visitors by winning top ranking on search engines for keyword phrases Have site listed in directories. (Yahoo, Ariva, Best of the Web, Sunstream search)

Get listed in Search engines (Aesop, Alexa, Ask Jeeves, Google, Lycos, Yahoo) Get links to your site on other websites (Buy links).

Two functions – Reference functions (VLOOKUP) – looks in the first column of an *array and moves across the row to return the value of a cell

10 (D2:D10) Means to perform the calculation on all cells from D2 to D10, inclusive
