2 What is AvenueE? AvenueE is designed to eliminate barriers that prevent full participation of women and underrepresented groups in Engineering and Computer Science, serving high potential, low resource students, and those from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor’s degree. Provide quick introduction to the program This is a new program that has just been piloted this year in collaboration with Los Rios, Peralta, and San Joaquin CC Districts Are you interested in engineering or computer science? Program spans roughly 4 years Avenue E is a program that was created and designed to increase representation and align with UC Davis’ commitment to diversity, inclusion, and upward mobility for our students. This program is a translation of our commitment to equity and access. We especially want to increase representation in these historically underrepresented fields - Engineering and Computer Science Desire to diversify the workforce in a way that is representative of the state of CA.

By offering these many services and resources, it is imperative that communication lines between community colleges, UC Davis, and industry partners remain open and vibrant. To increase this capacity building and facilitate cross-institutional learning and communication, the program will convene five professional learning communities. Professional learning communities will focus on Student Support, Engineering Education, Project Leadership, Learner Analytics, and Admissions/Outreach. Each learning community is designed to deepen the relationships between community colleges and UC Davis while providing a framework for continuous evaluation and program improvement.
