1 Disaster Readiness Discussion for Providers

2 Why Prepare? It’s required 22 CCR § 7547
(1) Familiarity with phone numbers of fire, police, and ambulance services for the geographic area served by the provider. These phone numbers shall be posted near the telephone for easy access when an emergency arises. (2) Techniques to obtain vital information from older individuals who require emergency assistance. (3) Making written emergency procedure instructions available to all staff who have contact with older individuals. You’re required to according to Title 22, Section 7547 of the California Code of Regulations

4 Why Now? Disaster can strike at anytime. Consider this:

5 Discussion Questions What are your emergency procedure instructions?
Are they available to all staff who have contact with older individuals? Do staff understand them? How will you keep your organization running?

6 Discussion Questions What phone numbers would be critical in an emergency? Where are the phone numbers? Do all of your staff know where to find the phone numbers?

7 Discussion Questions What information do you need?
From your clients? From other sources (the Media, PG&E, County, Fire, EMS, etc.) What information would you have to provide? About clients? To other sources (the County, Fire, Law, EMS, etc.) HOW WOULD YOU OBTAIN THAT INFORMATION FROM CLIENTS?
