Pacific Northwest tribes live off sea and forest resources Southwestern tribes built complex pueblos in a desert environment *Mound Builders in the Mississippi Valley created elaborate earthworks and extensive trade routes Eastern woodlands tribes clash over land and form alliances

Cultural Connections Trade networks linked Native Americans across North America Most Native American worship “The Great Spirit” and respect the land Family is the basis for tribal organization
