1 Title III Improvement Plans 2-Year status

2 ESEA Title III: Sec 3122 (2) IMPROVEMENT PLAN- If a State educational agency determines, based on the annual measurable achievement objectives described in subsection (a), that an eligible entity has failed to make progress toward meeting such objectives for 2 consecutive years, the agency shall require the entity to develop an improvement plan that will ensure that the entity meets such objectives. The improvement plan shall specifically address the factors that prevented the entity from achieving such objectives.

3 An improvement plan should focus only on those things that we intend to improve or refine, not everything that we are already doing. Include all other activities related to the ELD program in the district’s ELL Plan of Service.

4 MAIN PURPOSE OF IPs TO INCREASE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT THUS FACILITATING MEETING THE AMAOs The IP addresses each of the AMAOs not met. Activities to improve student achievement on each AMAOs are directly related to each SMART Goal.

5 IMPROVEMENT PLANS Include the following:
Identification of factors that prevent districts/schools from meeting the AMAOs Data Analysis Goals Follow-up/Monitoring implementation of the plan Please have the Worksheet handy. We will be referring to it periodically during the next few slides

OR, WHAT BARRIERS ARE IN PLACE THAT MAY NOT ALLOW ELLs TO MEET AMAOs. See p. 2 on Worksheet

8 3. Goals Goals are directly related to the AMAOs district/schools need to improve and are written in terms of student achievement. For example: At the end of SY , Rose Grove Elementary School will show an increase in ELs moving up one proficiency level up from 54% to 64%, and increase of 10%, as measured by the ELPA. See pp 9-12 on Worksheet

9 4. Implementation of the plan
