2. Introduction Business Modeling is the process of defining the business
In EAP, Business Modeling is done in two distinct parts :
1. Preliminary business model
2. Complete business model

3. The Preliminary business model
Identifies the function
Provides a brief description of each function
Identifies the organization unit that performs each business function.

4. Three Steps to Business Modeling
1. Document the organization structure
2. Identify and define the business functions
3. Document the preliminary business model and distribute and present it back to the business community for comments

5. Strategic Business Planning
Before explaining the steps for developing the preliminary business model, it is important to understand the relationship of EAP to Strategic Business Planning
Strategic Business Planning is the process of defining the mission and long-range objectives for conducting the business, and developing the strategies for achieving them
Strategic Business Planning is primarily concerned with three interacting aspects, look the figure

9. Document The Organization Structure
Two important uses for this information in EAP :
To identify people to interview during the enterprise survey
To determine the extent of data and application system sharing
Deliverables :
Up-to-date organization chart
Lst of positions and titles, the locations which in they are performed, and the number of people in the positions
Documentation of business goals, objectives, and strategic business plans(optional)
Enter above information into the toolset and generate reports

10. Identify/Define Functions
Defines the structure of the business model
Deliverable :
Functions are identified. Each Function :
Has a name
Either has a brief description, or
Is decompose into subfunctions, and
Is performed by at least one organization unit (unless it is a future function that is not currently performed)

11. Distribute The Preliminary Business Model
The business model reports are distributed to verify that the definitions and relationship are correct, so that the next phase, enterprise survey, will proceed smoothly
