Session Highlights Very engaging session
Experience from current implementations of data sharing Discussions about focusing initially on licenses only, not user management, due to: Perceived amount of work involved Security/privacy issues regarding contribution and use of personal information Identification of issues to consider Service and user licenses (restrictions, access controls) License stacking for data layers, i.e. WMS License attachment for data merging License representation to users (logo, details, etc.)

Suggested Initial Directions
Licensing use cases CC0, CC with attribution ISO 19115, FGDC metadata standards Work may contribute to ISO revisions currently being considered Merged data, layered data, and derivative product generation

Later Activities Look at other licensing options, based upon use cases developed previously Provenance Tagging Reuse and redistribution Pursue user management use cases and architectural solutions for registration and SSO

Workgroup Plan Broad milestones
04/2010: Reference design and use cases released to BPW and made available to GCI-CT, DSTF, and SIF Develop use cases, starting from those in the AIP-3 CFP, but open to new offerings and ideas Develop reference architecture and design from use cases as suggested solution for GEOSS users and providers 08/2010: Development completed by participating providers (CIESIN, Compusult, GENESI-DR, GIGAS Data )

Workgroup Plan Communication
Google Sites / list Telecons Initial call to take place soon (will use doodle to arrange first call, notice sent to AIP Plenary) First telecon will be used to agree on working plan, assign roles (if necessary), and decide frequency of telecons Other technologies, as appropriate Presentations and notes from session will be uploaded to Google Sites
