Regional Provision–Why Moodle?
Cumbria Pathfinder 14-19, LancsNGfL Team, CLEO Learning Consultants and Lancaster University Ease of use, deployment and complements existing provision in both counties Cost effective aggregation of development & infrastructure – Opensource Bucks, OU, international Moodle Security and backup Four teams are collaborating on the deployment of Moodle for schools in CLEO As an Opensource product Moodle can be deployed quickly in its basic form for immediate use and can be enhanced to be tailored for schools requirements – less tie in to suppliers development cycles for software Complements previous work in both LAs as well as infrastructure in place for the CLEO network. More cost effective that individual schools carrying out technical development and enhancements and removes any risks for school technical staff turnover The CLEO network already has backup services for its core and is ensuring Moodle users will have secure login through https

Their experiences demonstrate how they have begun to use learning platforms and are meeting the 3 basic elements of BECTA’s description of systems making up a Learning Platform
