Who I am at Beccles… As part of our new ‘get to know’ the staff at Beccles Medical Centre segment, we are really proud to introduce Zena. She is one of our Receptionists, and has worked here for 13 years. Zena covers other roles here at BMC and is a highly valued member of our team – feel free to say ‘hello’ to her next time you are in the Practice. What do you think makes Beccles special? “Beccles Medical Centre is a good place to work, it can sometimes throw up many challenges, however, we all pull together and work as one fantastic team.” Tell us about a typical morning? “A typical day for me is busy from start to finish whether I am answering patients calls, raising prescriptions, organising patients to come in and assist with Medical Student training, the best part of time is working in our Data Quality department where I complete a number of administrative jobs.” Can you tell me about your role here? “I work as a receptionist, administrator and I am responsible for co-ordinating the Medical Students that come to us from the University of East Anglia. I have been fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to expand my knowledge in multiple departments.” What is your favourite time of the day? “I don’t have a particularly favourite part of my day as each one is so varied and I enjoy all the different aspects of my job.” What would you like people to know about working in a GP practice? “I think we have a fantastic team working here at the surgery, we aim to help our patients in the best way we can and it would be nice if people would try and understand that we only ask questions to enable us to guide them to the right point of care and not because we are being nosey!!”
