To use this theorem, you must meet three conditions:
There are two right triangles. They have congruent hypotenuses. There is one pair of congruent legs.

You can also think about the converse of this statement:
If two angles (called base angles) of a triangle are congruent, The sides opposite those angles are congruent. (Thm 4.4)
