(make sure you comply with technology use policies – i.e. no full names of students) Booklegger books listing with a Flex page Web Resources – links to important sites (publisher, games, research, web quests, etc)

Edit in Microsoft Word platform Save Done! Schoolwires is really easy to use. If you use Microsoft Word (or other word processing program) to create a newsletter, you can build a website with Schoolwires. You can literally cut and paste into Schoolwires from Microsoft Word (that is how I transferred my old website to Schoolwires). Each screen will prompt you through each step. Most options and buttons are self-explanatory Mac Users – the interface and choices looks different than PC users.

7 Access to workspace tasks
Let’s Get Started Section Workspace This is where you will carry out edit tasks. You will be able to: ∗ Add or delete pages ∗ Edit content on pages ∗ Change the status of a page ∗ Rename and sort pages ∗ Role-protect a page ∗ Assign other Section Editors ∗ Access Files & Folders Need Help or learn more? Access to workspace tasks AKA: “HOME” This is the section workspace where you will begin accessing or creating pages The word “Home” in the upper-left corner will always take you back to your Section Workspace If you ever need a tutorial or additional resources to help you navigate, create, or edit pages you can go to the Tutorial, ClubSchoolio, and Community & Support sections

Click on SITE MANAGER to get to your section workspace to begin creating and editing Using Internet browser you will need to type On the Warm Springs Site you will click on the Teacher tab Click on your own name. In the upper right corner, click on Sign In Once you sign in it will take you back to the previous screen When you’re signed in the upper right corner will display Sign Out, Access My Info, and Site Manager NOTE: Site Manager will not be available unless you’re on your page (you don’t have access to edit other pages) Select Site Manager and a new window will open to your Section Workspace

9 Works just like Microsoft Word.
Section Workspace Works just like Microsoft Word. You can type directly into the text box or cut and paste into the pre-set frames. If you don’t like it – delete it. You can rename the title of pages Click on the name of the page to edit Again this is your Section Workspace. Select Overview to begin editing your opening page to your classroom web page (you can rename the page by clicking on Rename) Example of editing window for Kathy’s page As you can see it’s very similar to Microsoft Word platform Don’t be afraid to click around and see what happens. If you don’t like it. You can always delete the page or make it inactive until you’re ready to show it Inserting images are quite easy as well. Article Library Page File Library Page Maps & Directions Page Here are a sample of available pre-set forms. If there is something you want to create that you can’t use one of the pre-formatted choices, you can always use a Flex page (a blank page) to put whatever you want on there. Article Library Page – creates links to individual articles like newsletters File Library Page – you can upload handouts you’ve created on a word processor for students to download Links Library Page – district has already pre-loaded a this for you called Web Resources, this is where you can hold a collection of web links for research, extensions, web quests, etc. Maps & Directions Page – You can post the address of your field trip so drivers can access the page. Viewers can create a map and/or driving directions with Expedia Calendar Page – post due dates or important dates for students and parents. You can send out an e-alert to subscribe users to your page to receive an of your event. Blogs & Podcast pages – you or if you give access to the students to post daily/weekly blogs and podcasts (mini video and/or audio clip). It creates a real audience for student work Blog Page & Podcast Page too! Calendar Page

11 Let’s Build a Homework Page
Adding additional pages Let’s Build a Homework Page How a homework page will look At your Section Workspace you will click on New Page Click on Assignment to create an assignment page You will be prompted to give it a name It will return back to the Section Workspace page with your new page listed along with the other pages Click on the name Your editing window will appear Just like your Overview page you will create your homework assignments for the day or week Select the date when the assignment was assigned and due date (based on these dates the program will automatically sort it from Upcoming to Past Due) Don’t forget to click Active to make it viewable Don’t forget to click Save to complete the process An example of final product, students will click on the name of the assignment and see the homework chart that was created. Don’t forget to select Active and click Save.
