Paleo: Before 10,000 years ago BC to 8,000 BC yrs.
Weapons/Tools: stone, long wooden spears, Atlatl (used to throw darts) Food: Large animals, such as buffalo (Hunting/Gathering) Homes: Temporary shelters. They followed the food (nomads) Religion: Very little

Archaic: From 8000 BC to 1000 BC Weapons/Tools: wooden spears, choppers, drills, pottery Food: Small game, such as deer, fruit and nuts (Hunting and Gathering) Homes: crude shelters, stayed in one place longer than Paleo Religion: Very little, did properly bury dead

Woodland: 1000 BC to 1000 AD Weapons/Tools: Bow and arrow, advanced pottery Food: Small game, such as deer and some crops (squash) Homes: small villages, dome shaped huts. Began living in tribes Religion: Elaborate ceremonies held, burial mounds for dead

Mississippian: 700 AD to 1600 AD
Weapons/Tools: bow and arrow, more refined arrow heads Food: Grew crops (maize, beans, squash) Homes: larger villages with more permanent shelters, ceremonial buildings Religion: tobacco to use in ceremonies, religious centers for ceremonies
