International Placement Ruse Bulgaria 2012

Affordability Eating out is very cheap – 5 lev Pizza (£2.00) Taxi from Bucharest airport to Ruse – 80 lev Drinks are cheap Bus journeys are all 1 lev – to the mall/ cinema / work Flights - £160 from Manchester return Accommodation - £30-£40 per month

The House Is called Baba Tonka Next to the River Danube Has 3 bedrooms – 1 with twin beds in Is split into two – next door are young people who have physical disabilities Students have own bathroom and kitchen facilities. Shared Laundry with other side of the house.

Your walk to work 20 minute walk to work for the Pink House – we went to the Pink House twice per week. Very safe Pleasant Walk through a park Lovely in April/May with the good weather! Not your usual walk to work in the UK!

The Pink House Childrens home – you can walk to it! Approximately 10 children who live there Most from institutions that have closed down. Youtube – Bulgarias abandoned children. This house will make up 50% of the paediatric part of this placement – 2 days per week. Conditions – Autism, Cerebral Palsy, ADHD, Developmental Delay

The Ramp House Childrens home – A bus journey away. Cheap buses – 1 Bulgarian lev Per way (40p) Approximately 10 children. This house is the other 50% of the paediatric part of placement. Conditions – Downs syndrome, ADHD, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, physical disabilities. Less able children here compared to the Pink House.

Mental Health 20% of overall placement 80% is paediatrics Mental Health Hospital - inpatient Bus ride away Conditions – Schizophrenia, Depression and Anxiety mainly. Work alongside Bulgarian students who are on placement. Great Opportunity to meet new Bulgarian friends!

So – a typical week Monday – Ramp House (Paediatrics) Tuesday – Pink House (Paediatrics) Wednesday – Ramp House (Paediatrics) Thursday – Mental Health Friday – Pink House (Paediatrics) Hours of work – 9am-5pm Paediatrics Hours of work – 9am – 11am Mental Health
