The US Army COIN Center is pleased to host Dr. Geoff Demarest of the US Army Foreign Military Studies Office and author of the recently published book, Winning Insurgent War.
“This is not a COIN manual. This book is about picking the right fights, studying the right things, setting the right objectives, managing violence efficiently and responsibly, and closing the deal in time and space. It is not about living in peace, it is about winning it. It is about legitimate violence.”

Dr. Demarest holds a JD and a PhD in International Studies from the University of Denver. He is a graduate of the US Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, and of the School of the Americas at Ft. Benning, Georgia.
