2 History The founder of Jamestown is the Virginia Company by King James I. It is located in eastern Virginia on the banks of the James River. Jamestown was the first Amercia permanent English colony in Virginia on May 24, 1606 Jamestown was established to search for silver and gold and to find a well river route to the Pacific Ocean that would allow them to establish trading with the Orient.
