2 On the seventh of March, in the jungle of Smeagle, There lived a enormous elephant with the sight and hearing of an eagle,As he was taking his afternoon stroll, Horton stopped to smell the flowers but as he took a whiff around the roses, he heard a bunch of small noises

3 So he stopped himself from sniffing and looked for the sound
So he stopped himself from sniffing and looked for the sound. Horton turned round and round until he discovered it was from a speck of dust. He took a closer look at the piece of dust to find a small tiny town. “My, my, it seems as though this is a city of these little creatures.” Said Horton “Yes indeed, We creatures are called whos, and we live in, Whoville. I am the mayor and along with 15 other whos, we run this town.” Said the Mayor of Whoville. HELLO!

4 “What is happening mayor?” Horton replied
Out of curiosity, Horton decided to observe these Whos, after all, he had nothing to do. After a couple of hours of observations, the mayor shouted. “Oh dear, Oh Dear, it looks like it is almost time.” “What is happening mayor?” Horton replied “The big vulture is gonna split our city in half. I speak no lie.” Horton realized that the vulture came every few days. HELP!

5 The mayor and 15 other whos scrambled randomly and formed into two neat groups. they each held a persons hand. The rest of the Whos followed the mayor and made two of the same groups. as the vulture was about to swoop down, they prepared to move to the center of the town to await their visit with the vicious vulture. "Swish". the vulture missed! The gust spilt the dust in two. The pieces landed on two separate flowers. The mayor with the 7 Whos on one and the rest on the other.

6 "What shall we do?!?" cried the mayor.
The vulture was preparing to swoop down again! The Whos went at random to the center of the flowers. Woosh! the vulture missed again! Now they were seperated onto 4 flowers with 4 whos on each.

7 Help! screamed the Mayor
Horton saw that they were in trouble. He quickly ran to the flowers. He grabbed them and took off towards his house. Once they arrived, he settled them in his green house. "Phew, you guys should be safe here!" “I thank you so much kind elephant. I wish to know your name.” “Horton!” he kindly replied.

8 From then on the Who’s and Horton became good friends…
The End!

9 List of Analogies List of Analogies:
-We presented Horton as a scientist studying and analyzing the Who’s that dwelled on the speck of dust on the flower. -The dust on the flower represented a single diploid cell ready to go into meiosis. -The citizens, including the mayor, are represented as the genes and chromosomes in the nucleus of a cell. -The gust/vulture were represented as the spindle fibers as it separated the flower and eventually made them into 4 haploid flowers (cells). -When Horton realized that the vulture attacks occurred often, we represented that as like a normal and everyday part of the cell cycle. -Independent assortment was represented when the whos “randomly” split into groups and tetrads. -Prophase 1 was represented by the process of the whos splitting into two tetrads of eight to get ready for the vulture attack (metaphase 1, anaphase 1). -Metaphase 1 was represented by the whos lining up at the center of the flower to be cut in half. -Anaphase 1/Telophase 1 was represented when the vulture swooped down and the gust split it in half. -Interkinesis occurred when the whos had a short break period right before the vulture attacked a second time. (We combined the steps of meiosis 2) -Meiosis 2 was represented by the second vulture attack and how they split into groups and were cut in half by the gust. At the end, they formed 4 haploid cells.
