What are the different types of Folk Literature?
Using the activity on page 43, match the type of story with its definition. Your group will be assigned one of the types of folk literature. Your group will receive a book on this type. Read through your book and discuss why it is that type of folk literature.

Group Presentation You will have a few minutes to plan a presentation to the rest of the class in which you tell the story and accompany the story with three drawings that illustrate key points of the story. You will need to explain how your assigned story fits the criteria of your specific type of folk literature. Each group member much participate, either in telling part of the story, or in presenting the explanation.

To Conclude… What is the purpose of folk literature?
What is the function of folk literature? Why is storytelling an important aspect of a culture or society? Why do these stories exist? Why are they still around? Why do people still tell them? What are some modern day examples of folk literature?
