To explore religious inclination in Pre-Islamic Arabia. To evaluate the extent to which this is against traditional monotheism. Do Now: Read Aladdin’s Cave & the Jinn What was the role of the Jinn? Were the positive, negative or both? What was the Arab view of the Jinn and why?

2 Activation: Using the starter article and the reading on your desk:
With the person next to you Mindmap the features of the following: E.g. Crafty and mischievous Arab Polytheism and Animism Jinn Extension: Which of these beliefs/practices are completely against Islam? Why? Objects contain spirits or ‘essences’ Idol worship.

3 Demonstration: Fill out the A3 sheet on the different features of Pre-Islamic Arabia we have covered so far. We will be coming back to this in future lessons. Extension: What is the definition of the word Hanif? Why were these people unusual for the time?
