2. Choosing a Marriage Partner
Marrying the wrong person can lead to destruction.
Marrying, or being married to, a non-Christian is not condemned.
However, God strongly urges us to associate with people of like faith.
Why would we seek to bind ourselves for a lifetime with someone who isn’t a Christian?

3. Marriage as God defines
1 Corinthians 7:3-4
Definition of roles of husbands and wives.
Eph. 5:22-33; Col. 3:18-19; 1 Peter 3:1-7
Head of the wife
Love as Christ loved
Love as yourself
Nourish & Cherish
Don’t be bitter
Dwell with understanding
Give honor
Submit as to the Lord
Subjection in everything
Respect
Submit even to an unbeliever
Submission involves obedience

A successful marriage takes work.
Husbands need to act like the leaders they’re supposed to be.
Wives need to learn to be followers and helpers.
Both need to put spouse’s needs ahead of their own.
Both need to admit when they’re wrong and say we’re sorry.
Both need to show appreciation to our spouse.
