3. Properties of light Light travels in straight beams
Light can be reflected
Light can bend

4. Light and distance As light travels it dissipates into surroundings
Closer an object is to the source of light the more light rays hit the object
Closer = Brighter

The angle of reflection equals the angle of incidence

A ray of light will reflect off a plane mirror at the exact same angle as the incoming angle
Incident ray = going in
reflected ray = coming out

7. Types of reflection Regular: Smooth surface,
Light is reflected evenly from the surface at the same angle they came in
Diffuse:
Uneven surface
Rays are then reflected at different angles

8. Imagine: Light must conform as a unit
Following a marching band director, and one person in the line goes into a thick mud puddle. As the person gets stuck and slows down the rest of the band line. To keep in uniform the band compensates and slowly bends to fit the angle of that person stuck in the mud until all are in the mud.

9. Light traveling through a prism
Write what you think will happen when light hits the solid:
Refracted light hits a more dense object, causing the light to refract and bend
This bend separates the colors in white light and make a rainbow
