2. Introduction
I decided to do my Diversity Project on Ruby Bridges, one of the people that helped African Americans have the ability to attend white schools. I picked her because I look up to her. At a young age she was able to change the school system.

3. Who Is Ruby Bridges? Ruby Bridges is a civil rights activist.
She was the first African American child to desegregate schools.

4. Early Life Born September 8, 1954 in Tylertown, Mississippi
Her parents are Abon and Lucille Bridges
She is the oldest of 4; has two younger brother and a younger sister
Lived on a farm with her grandparents and parents
Moved to New Orleans at the age 4 with her parents

5. Education
When Ruby was in kindergarten she was chosen to take a test to see if she could attend an all white school
She attended school at William Frantz Elementary School
She was escorted to school by guards sent by the federal government to get to school
Everyday she had to deal with racism going to school
Her mother encouraged her to continue to go to school and prayed she arrived safetly

7. Adult Life Ruby Bridges got married to Malcolm Hall in 1984
She has 4 sons
In 1998 there was a movie made about her life
In 1999 Ruby Bridges formed the Ruby Bridges Foundation which she wanted to give equality to children in schools

9. Reflection
Personally I believe that Ruby Bridges was a brave African American female at a young age. While attending school she had to deal with racism everyday based on her skin color just to receive the same type of education as white people. Without her schools might have taken longer to allow African Americans in all white schools. African Americans education sill wouldn’t have been as good as whites since they had the new books and their school wasn’t falling apart like blacks. Ruby Bridges changed the school system and without her African Americans wouldn’t be able to attend white schools.

10. Conclusion
In conclusion Ruby Bridges helped African Americans be able to attend school with white people. We were able to achieve the same education as a white people as well.
