2. Purpose
Help you better understand the interworkings of cells and the organelles that make them up
Understand the structures of the organelles
Have fun!

3. What do you do?
You may choose an animal cell or a plant cell – if you decide to do both you can get an extra 20 points added to your project grade

4. What do you do?
Must be 3-D (front, back, and sides) – it cannot be a piece of paper with things glued on it.
Plant cells must be rectangular, animal cells must be circular

What do you do?
Cell parts must include:
Animal Cell
Plant Cell
Cell membrane
Cell Wall
Cytoplasm
Nucleus
Mitochondria
Endoplasmic Reticulum
Chloroplasts
Golgi Complex
Lysosomes
Ribosomes
Vacuole

6. What do you do? All cell parts must be labeled
Toothpicks with paper glued to them as flags work great
A legend showing what things represent the organelle parts will work

7. What do you do? Be creative and have fun!
Your cell can be edible or non-edible
Use food, yarn, clay, Styrofoam, cereal, balloons, gummy worms, mints, fruit slices, dried fruit, gum balls, peanuts, rope licorice, jelly beans, sesame seeds, other candies, toothpicks, beads, pipe cleaners… and anything else appropriate that you can think of, in any combination.

8. What do you do?
Size – they need to be at least the size of a piece of computer paper (8 ½ by 11)
Any smaller gets too hard to see the organelles and their labels
Please no larger than an 11 ½ by 17 piece of paper

9. Examples
This model was made using a Styrofoam ball, cut open as the cytoplasm of the cell. Other materials include: noodles, green clay, cardboard, straws, sponge, and beads.
