True value of Mandarin Consulting Coaching Programmes
Training
2
Objective of our coaching:
To coach young Chinese university students to become future international business professionals by helping them to understand essential knowledge of the West and skills related to job applications.
3
Sales skill: In the beginning of our Career Consultation, we must ask all our warm leads the following questions: Why do Chinese students in the US have difficulty passing interviews in the US? Their lack of understanding of the US (KNOWLEDGE) – American Values, American company values, company structures, business functions, American culture, American current affairs, global economic issues, corporate life and others. Their lack of understanding of the job application process (SKILLS) – Resume, cover letter, interviews, Super Day, group work, presentation, business English, Western social etiquette and others.
4
Sales skill: By the end of the career consultation, all warm leads must agree with the following:
All Chinese students must understand the following: Knowledge and skills lead to more offers Bypassing learning the knowledge and skills does not work in the US for getting a good job Bypassing learning the knowledge and skills will prevent students to become successful international professionals Referrals may only lead to interviews, never to passing interviews Best people from whom to learn knowledge about the US and its values are Americans Best people with whom to practise interview skills in the US are American professionals with many years of professional experience Best people from whom to learn about American professional life are experienced American professionals
5
Sales skills: During the career consultation, we must ask warm leads the following emotive questions: What is your dream job? What type of professional lifestyle are you looking for? How would you like to feel each day when you are working? What do you want from your first job and future career? How would your parents feel when you tell them you have got a job offer from a top US company?
6
All consultants should give advice to warm leads on how to speak to their parents:
Discuss what they learn from us first – Knowledge and skills Ask the parents if they support him/her to learn such knowledge and skills Do they want him/her to be an international business professional? Let the parents know the quality of the coaches Explain to the parents how applications to the large companies are done and hence Chinese students need to learn the relevant knowledge and skills Explain how referrals do not help applicants to pass interviews Explain to the parents the importance of finding a job that suits the person’s strengths and interest: successful people tend to be doing something they love Explain to the parents the personal coach is like a wise and knowledgeable uncle or aunt to guide them through their transition from being a student to being a professional
