Naloxone - “The Save Shot”
Safe, highly effective rescue medication for opioid overdose Reverses the effects of an opioid overdose Attaches to the same parts of the brain that heroin & other opioids attach to Reverses respiratory depression Blocks opioids for 30 – 90 minutes (Short duration)

Does Naloxone only work for overdose cases caused by opioids?
Yes No effect on benzodiazepines, alcohol, cocaine, meth Person not breathing - it will not hurt to give Naloxone

If a person shows signs of an overdose:
Slow or not breathing Blue or purplish lips Be limp Vomiting or gurgling Not wake up or respond if you try to rouse them

If a person shows signs of an overdose:
Call right away Begin rescue breathing if the person isn’t taking in air Give the person Naloxone

Used over & over again on the same opioid abuser Never gets to treatment to break the cycle of addiction “RUSSIAN ROULETTE” lifestyle of continued use often tragically catches up with them
