Secondary Math 2 7.3 Angles and Slope
2
Warm UP: (if needed, use 7.2 notes)
Find the midpoint of the following points: π 10, 16 ; πΎ (2, 1) Find the distance between the following points: π 10, 16 ; πΎ (2, 1)
3
Questions on 7.2
4
QUIZ 13 β Geometry Basics Cannot use notes. π« = (ππβππ)π + (ππβππ)π
π« = (ππβππ)π + (ππβππ)π When you are done, flip your quiz over, and sit silently.
5
ANGLE β What is it!?! The amount of turn between two rays that have a common endpoint.
6
Naming Angles β 4 ways
7
Practice!!!
8
Kinds of angles: βmeasureβ of an angle = how far it opens up
Acute: angle where measure is less than 90Λ Right: angle where measure is exactly 90Λ Obtuse: angle where measure is greater than 90Λ
9
Congruent Angles If two angles have the same measure, then they are congruent If two angles are congruent, then they have the same measure.
10
Kinds of angles: Complementary Angles: angles whose sum is 90Λ
Supplementary Angles: angles whose sum is 180Λ Linear Pair: a pair of adjacent supplementary angles
11
Think about it: If two angles are complementary, can one of those angles be obtuse?
12
SLOPE (What we know)
13
Looking at lines and their slope
14
Find the slope
15
Find the slope
16
Find the slope of the line:
The line through (6, 5) and (5, 1)
17
Kinds of lines: PARALLEL LINES
Have the SAME SLOPE!!!!!!! Their slopes are = to each other!!! Symbol for Parallel Lines
18
Parallel Lines π΄π΅ has a slope of 2 3 πΆπ· also has a slope of 2 3
19
Kinds of lines: Perpendicular Lines
Have OPPOSITE and RECIPROCAL slopes!!!! Example: β 2 3 Slope is flipped over (reciprocal) The sign of the slope changed Positive Negative
20
No slope = Slope of zero (0/anything) Undefined slope = vertical line (anything/0)
