1 Welcome to the assembly of the 160th Ave. Church of Christ!
We gather Sunday at 9 AM (class), 10 AM, 5 PM, & Wednesday at 7 PM Check the bulletin for various announcements

II. Commended for great faith A. Pergamos 1. your works made more difficult by where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is v13a 2. you hold fast v13b a. the battle in this culture was holding fast... meant they could not even pretend to accept other gods even if that meant death, which it did for Antipas (and others, Rev. 17:6). b. all the Romans required was that their gods be acknowledged but they would not tolerate this intolerance c. we know little else about him but that doesn’t stop men from filling in the gaps (Deut. 29:29) i. legends exist about his occupation ii. human tradition says John appointed him to be the bishop of Pergamos, even though that contradicts what the Bible teaches about every church having bishops/elders. iii. The Catholic Church made April 11 a feast day in his memory—this is what happens when man begins inventing his own holy days. B. Thyatira 1. works, love, service, faith, patience (perseverance = endure) 2. works have grown and because this is commended, it indicates they were growing in many ways
