Tzedakah Right Relationship
If any of your kinsman in any community is in need in the land which the Lord, your God, is giving you, harden not your heart nor close your hand to him in his need. Instead, you shall open your hand to him and freely lend him enough to meet his need… When you give to him, give freely and not with ill-will… The needy will never be lacking in the land; that is why I command you to open your hand to your poor and needy kinsman in the land. Deuteronomy 15:7-8,10-11
6
The Prophets The God of Israel is a God of justice who protects and defends the poor. The test of Israel’s faithfulness is the treatment of the needy: the widow, the orphan, the stranger in your midst.

The basic moral test of a society is how the most vulnerable members are faring.
16
Rights and Responsibilities
Every person has a right to those things required for human decency. Corresponding to these rights are duties and responsibilities.
17
The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers
If the dignity of work is to be protected, the economy must serve people, not the other way around.
18
Solidarity Solidarity is the conviction that we are born into a fabric of relationships, that our humanity ties us to others, that the gospel consecrates those ties and that the prophets tell us that those ties are the test by which our very holiness will be judged.
19
Care for God’s Creation
Catholic tradition insists that we show our respect for the Creator by our stewardship of creation.
20
What does our mission require?
Personally: a willingness to leave our comfort zone and go where God is calling us. As a community: listening to the Word, worshiping our God, and serving Christ wherever he may be found in the world .
21
St. Odilia Mission Statement
We are a Catholic community of faith that welcomes every person to grow in holiness and draw closer to Jesus Christ through Worship and Evangelization, Faith Formation and Education, Works of Charity and Justice ...every day and at every stage of life.

The bread which you do not use Is the bread of the hungry.
The garment hanging in your wardrobe Is the garment of him who is naked. The shoes that you do not wear Are the shoes of the one who is barefoot. The money you keep locked away Is the money of the poor. The acts of charity you do not perform Are so many injustices you commit. St. Basil the Great
