2. What was the transcontinental railroad?
It is a system of railroads that starts in California and it helped travelers go out west without having to ride in a covered wagon. The railroad was a train system for the rich people of the east and west.

Governor Stanford started and ended the railroad. He pounded the last spike proudly into the railroad. Governor Stanford was born in Sacramento, California and lived from 1824 to 1893.

It was starting to be built but it took 6 long years between and 1869.It was finally completed on may 1869, this is a great start of a great way to travel.

The Transcontinental Railroad stretches from Omaha, Nebraska to Sacramento, California. The Transcontinental railroad is 1,176 miles in length. This is the first time in the United States that the Atlantic and Pacific were connected by railroad.
