1 In this Sermon Series, we have been exploring "the full armor of God"
that is described in Ephesians 6, why each piece is needed, and how to better live a victorious Christian life in a world full of darkness.

2 Ephesians 6: 14-15 14 “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.”

Romans soldiers’ sandals had to be strong enough to stand up to long marches and have sufficient grip to work in various terrain (for offense and defense), so the soles were covered by thick iron studs or spikes that would be evenly balanced across each foot.

4 to share the Gospel, the soldier’s footwear needs to be adequate.
A Roman Soldier would need to be able to “dig in” when on defense against an enemy and swiftly move together when advancing on offense. Like with being ready to share the Gospel, the soldier’s footwear needs to be adequate.

(based on Mark 4: 37-39)

8 Master, the tempest is raging! The billows are tossing high!
The sky is o’ershadowed with blackness. No shelter or help is nigh. Carest thou not that we perish? How canst thou lie asleep When each moment so madly is threatening A grave in the angry deep?

9 Master, with anguish of spirit I bow in my grief today.
The depths of my sad heart are troubled. Oh, waken and save, I pray! Torrents of sin and of anguish Sweep o’er my sinking soul, And I perish! I perish! dear Master. Oh, hasten and take control!

10 “The winds and the waves shall obey my will;
Peace, be still! Peace, be still! Whether the wrath of the storm-tossed sea Or demons or men or whatever it be, No waters can swallow the ship where lies The Master of ocean and earth and skies. They all shall sweetly obey my will. Peace, peace, be still!”

11 Do not let your hearts be troubled
John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.  I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled  and do not be afraid.”

12 Romans 16:20

13 Philippians 4: 6-9 By consistently directing our anxious thoughts and concerns to God in prayer, He will bring peace to guard our hearts and minds.

14 By fully believing the Gospel,
we will more likely become people of peace. As we live out and proclaim the Gospel, God’s peace will become even more real to us and will flow over into the lives of others.

15 we have been told to stand firm…
Over the past 3 weeks, we have been told to stand firm… equipping these 3 parts of the armor of God: The Belt of Truth The Breastplate of Righteousness Feet fitted w/readiness from Gospel of Peace What still needs to be “tightened up”, for your safety and for the blessing of God in your life?
