2
Rationale and Justification
Midwest: 13-19% yield advantage for corn after soybean. 10% yield advantage for soybean after corn compared to continuous soybean. What is the advantage for corn soybean rotation in the Midsouth?
3
Rotations
4
Progress… First rotational cycle complete in 2016
Nematode samples currently being analyzed 2016 soil nutrient samples to LSU soil lab soon Hired Dr. Gurpreet Kaur to work on data analysis, project management
5
Yield following corn vs. soybean*
Corn following Corn Corn following Soybean Difference Irrigated 150 160 + 6.6% Dryland 141 148 + 4.9% + 6.4% + 8.1% Soybeans following Soybeans Soybeans Following Corn 49 52 + 6.1% 33 41 +24.2% + 48.5% +26.8% Soybeans Following Corn Burned Not burned Difference 51 55 + 7.8% *Yields in bushels/acre

Advisor: Dr. Kelly Nelson Projects: SOIL WATERLOGGING AND N FERTILIZER MANAGEMENT EFFECTS ON CORN AND SOYBEAN YIELDS EFFECT OF FOLIAR BORON FERTILIZATION OF FINE TEXTURED SOILS ON CORN YIELDS IMPACT OF LONG-TERM PHOSPHOROUS FERTILIZATION ON OLSEN-P AND GRAIN YIELDS IN MAIZE-WHEAT CROPPING SEQUENCE ETC.
7
Upcoming… Grant contracts still not signed due to delays with USB
- Hopefully signed by end of February…hopefully Will be sending out data sheets with 2017 crops Begin work on net returns with Dr. Larry Falconer We will be sending out project seed ASAP
8
What we need… SOIL SAMPLES!!! ASAP
Production inputs for each crop/treatment: Chemicals used Fertilizer applied Field operations Etc.
