2. Assumptions and Need to have
Model of a single stage process.
One type of resource.
Two type of entities: simple and hard cases
Parameters:
Arrival time distribution: EXPO(7.5). Every 7.5 minutes a case arrives (about 8 per hour)
in minutes
Process time distribution:
70% is TRIA (3, 12, 16) - the simple cases
30% is UNIF (20, 30) – the hard cases

3. Open Arena in Arena Folder

4. Accept the terms

5. Add a Create, Decide, 2 assign, 2 process, and one dispose
Add a Create, Decide, 2 assign, 2 process, and one dispose. Connect as shown. The connect tool is here.

6. Double click on the Create module. A window opens
Change to 7.5
Change to minutes
Then click OK

7. Double click on the Decide module
Change to 70
Then click OK

8. Double click on the top assign module. This is for the simple cases
Type: simple_cases
Then click Add

9. A new window, select Entity Type and write simple_c
First select Entity Type
Then type
Simple_c
Click Ok

10. Should look like this, click Ok

11. Repeat for the second assign
Use hard_cases for the name of the module
Use hard_c for the Entity Type

12. Double Click on the Process Module
Change to
Seize Delay Release

13. The form will change, need to ID the resource
Click on
Add

14. Make up a name for your resource
Type in a
name
for example: worker
Then click OK

15. Now we will add the process time distribution
Type in the
Parameters for
Triangular

16. Do these changes
Change to Minutes
Then click OK
The parameters

17. Repeat for process 2 The resource should be the same.
Use the Unif (20,30) parameters

18. Next go to Run, Setup

19. Go to Replication Parameters Tab
Change to 8
Change to
Minutes
Then click OK

20. Save the model. Be sure to save it in the documents or desktop.

21. Click on Run

22. Click on yes to see the results

23. Click on Entity (report)
Average wait times in minutes

24. To go back to the model close the page

25. To edit the model, must End it

26. To change the number of workers available
Scroll down to
Resources
Change to 2
