Government corruption and violence caused by riots impacted social and economic stability
Since 2010, the country has been using its money and resources to restructure the government & make it more democratic

4. Sudan & South Sudan
Dealt with the violence and instability of civil war for 50 years
Money and resources used for weapons and supplies for the war
Families torn apart due to military recruitment or the victims wartime crimes
Focus now to reconstruct government and rebuild

5. Democratic Republic of the Congo
History of country filled with violence and unrest; first with European control, now with civil war
Money and resources used for armies, weapons, and other supplies for war
The little remaining funds go toward mineral resource development and logging

6. Nigeria Nigeria makes a lot of money off of it’s oil resources
Experienced oppression under a military dictatorship and years of corruption.
Struggling to reorganize the government with more freedoms
Most of money used toward oil industry; very little in education and healthcare

7. South Africa Struggled for years to end apartheid
Healthcare resources and assistance pushed aside for focus on nation’s issue of creating unity and reshaping the government
Money used for maintaining unity and building up mining industry
