So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
Observation: Introduction has emphatic Greek double negative (g3367). Paul took roughly two millennia of teaching and condensed it down to two basic principals: Love God, Love Man
Interpretation:
Follows the clear direction to submit to civil authority. Debt and usury had a very specific function in Mosaic Law — not to be abused.
The focus of Jesus: Go beyond the outward act to the inner attitude.
Key word: ὀφείλω opheiló to owe; indebted, obligated

Paul takes applicable, representative laws to represent his summary: Leviticus 19:18 / Matthew 5:43 Matthew 22:39 / Mark 12:31 / Luke 10:27 / John 13:34 Galatians 5:14 / James 2:8 2. Key word: πλησίον plésion adv; near, near by; neighbor (17) 3. Who is your neighbor?
In this book, Eisenman talked about Second Mile Living:
I remember a story a Chinese evangelist told about a Christian farmer who had to carry water to his rice paddy during the dry season. His paddy was separated from his neighbor’s paddy by a dike and a water gate. The farmer carried water all day to his rice paddy. The next morning he discovered that his neighbor had raised the water gate during the night and let the water run down into his own dry paddy. So the farmer carried water from dawn to dusk again to flood his rice paddy. Then, on the second morning, like the first, he found his own paddy drained and dry and his neighbor’s well soaked. So on the third day, the farmer first carried water to his neighbor’s paddy. Not until after it was well watered did he carry water to his own. The second mile deed so struck the farmer’s neighbor that he later became a Christian because of it.
18 You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.

Obedience
John McArthur remembered a saying made by an older gentlemen when he was young: “The Christian life can be lived like this: love everyone perfectly and do whatever you want.” 
We establish the Law through faith (Romans 3:31)
And what does the Lord require of you? (Micah 6:8)

Observation: The use of night and day carry literal in symbolic meanings; Paul strikes a poetic tone rich in symbolism and instructive in content
Interpretation:
Night, night-time = Danger, evil, corruption, sexual sin
Dad’s quote: “Nothing good happens after 11 o’clock“
The Day of the Lord included both old and intertestamental references
Key word: ἡμέρα hémera day; #3 “pending judgement return” see Heb 10:25
Paul wants us to live in the light during this period of time

Key word: ἐνδύσασθε (endysasthe) from enduo put on; g1746 (17) Also in: 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11) 2. The Bottom Line: For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. (John 1:17)
