8 WHAT HAPPENED NEXT? Kingfisher Flood Initiative Established
Data Collected Previous Studies Analyzed NRCS Upstream Flood Control Structures Railroad Bridge Early Warning System Levees Acquisition & Relocation Floodproofing Channelization Diversions

9 STATE FUNDING State Appropriation
$4Million Administered Through Kingfisher County Conservation District and the Oklahoma Conservation Commission Buyout & Relocation $7.5M Floodproofing $1.63M Flood Control Dams $11.5M STATE FUNDING

15 RAINFALL

16 SPLIT FLOW

17 HYDRAUILC ANALYSIS August 2007 Hydrology Split Flow HEC-RAS WSEL
Compared HWM Developed Updated Hydrology Developed 10%, 2%, 1% and 0.2% Flood Profiles 126 Properties in Floodplain Calculated Damages Based on Updated Data Updated HMGP Application

18 HMGP APPLICATION 48 Proposed Acquisition Properties
25% are Repetitive Loss Properties As of March 2011, these properties had cost the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) almost $1.0 million in identified claims. At the time of the grant application, 12 of the 48 properties were insured under the NFIP, and 6 of the 12 were RLs with more than $625,000 in prior NFIP claims. BCA $5.8M Grant Awarded April 6, 2012

19 VOLUNTARY ACQUISITIONS

20 FUTURE PLANS Currently Preparing to Make Offers
Additional HMGP Applications Submitted Additional Acquisition Projects Anticipated

21 SUMMARY Historical Flood Data is Important!
State and Federal Review is Time Consuming Outreach is Extremely Important Local Leadership Is Wonderful Don’t Overlook State Responsibilities Flexibility and Resilience is Key
