Biofidelity of Head Response
After the dummy was designed and tested, we realised that the head response in drop tests are higher than the response of cadaver heads in similar tests which is around 60g. The head can be tuned to that response if the customer requests it. 11/22/2018 GESAC, Inc

Summary - 1 A 3.4 kg infant biofidelic, instrumented dummy has been developed. Anthropometric specifications were developed from direct measurements and scaling. Impact response corridors were scaled from adult impact response corridors. Impact tests show that dummy either meets or is very close to desired corridors. 11/22/2018 GESAC, Inc
33
Summary - 2 The dummy is instrumented to measure accelerations at the upper and lower neck, chest CG, head CG, and pelvis. A damped rib structure allows the chest impact response to exhibit realistic hysteresis. 11/22/2018 GESAC, Inc
34
Summary - 3 String potentiometer on the rib allows measurement of chest compression. Angular velocity sensors in the head allow direct measurement of head angular velocity. 11/22/2018 GESAC, Inc
35
Summary - 4 Load cells at the bottom of the neck and on the lumbar spine enable measurement of axial forces on the cervical and lumbar spines. Packaged FlexiForce sensors shows promise as an impact load measurement device when tested on blocks of foam supported in the back. 11/22/2018 GESAC, Inc
36
Summary - 5 FlexForce sensors show about 80% of the load levels shown by load cell on impactor. FlexForce package on the abdomen shows a low level of force when compared to the impactor load cell. This phenomenon will be investigated in future. 11/22/2018 GESAC, Inc
