HEMLOCK HIGH SCHOOL EARLY MIDDLE COLLEGE

Why Sign Up? Allows students early college opportunities while remaining on the Hemlock campus. Allows students who do not have transportation the chance to earn college credit. Creates opportunities for students to accelerate learning at the college level while in high school. Entire cost of tuition and books are covered by Hemlock Public Schools. Students participate in all school related activities within the realm of the regular school day. Students will walk with their graduating classmates during their 4th year of the program.

What will the program look like?
Students accepted into EMC will have a 5 year graduation plan. Junior Year: 5 Hemlock HS and 2 EMC Courses Senior Year: 5 Hemlock HS and 4 EMC Courses 5th Year: 12 to 15 credit hours will be taken at Delta College One class must be math related to meet requirements for graduation

What will the program look like?
20 seats are available for the Class of Each group of 20 students will be identified as a Cohort. College coursework will be taught by Delta faculty either through face-to- face contact, online, or blended format created to meet Delta College standards and expectations. Each year an additional cohort of 20 students will be added to the early college program.

Program Admission Requirements
Admission into the program will follow the HHSEMC application requirements. Applications are available on the hemlockps.com or in the high school office. All applications are due by February 16, 2018. All applicants will take the Accuplacer exam at Hemlock HS on March 9th to determine college readiness. An admissions decision will be made by a committee after review of all relevant education data is reviewed.

What are the benefits? Students will receive a minimum of 42 transferrable credits from Delta College. All of the college courses taken during the first two years of the program are taught at HHS. All students accepted into the program have the opportunity to earn up to 60 college credits. Entire cost of the program is covered by Hemlock Public Schools.
