2. What is Game Design?
The art of applying design and aesthetics to create a game to facilitate interaction between players for variety of reasons, including entertainment, medical, and educational.

3. Class Goals By the end of the class, all students should be able to:
Create computer games using Game Maker.
Design and code programs using a variety of resources.
Solve problems using algorithmic processes.
Debug programs using systematic methods.
Understand how computers process information such as pictures and sounds.
Work on projects collaboratively.
Design 2D artwork for a variety of game genres.
Describe basic narrative structure, such as three-act, hero’s journey, and character archetypes.

All assignments and important dates are written on the back board.
Due dates are also posted online.
Assignments are completed in class, only homework would be if students don’t finish in class.

15. Grade Posts
Assignment grades will be posted at Google Classroom first, with comments.
Once I am done grading an assignment, these grades will be transferred to PowerSchool.
PowerSchool has the final grade, the one that will be put in progress and final grade reports.

16. Incomplete Assignments
If a student does not turn in their work, the assignment will be given an “Missing”.
If a student does not fully complete their assignments to the best of their abilities, the assignment will be given an “Needs Revisions.
Any student that has at least one incomplete will have an incomplete grade in the class, indicating that I cannot give the student a grade that reflects their ability without seeing all of the work for the trimester.

17. Incomplete Assignments
Students with incompletes will be expected to make up their work as soon as possible.
Students may turn in work at any time, up to the end of the trimester, with no penalty, including students who are resubmitting incomplete assignments. There will be no late deductions or penalties for turning in work after the time the student is given in class.

18. Incomplete Assignments
Assignments will be “due” on the last day that students have to work on the assignment in class.
This “due” date is only to indicate the amount of time students were given to complete the assignment in class.

Students who do not complete assignments in a timely manner will be asked to fill out an Assignment Reminder Form.
This form will ask students about what they plan to do to make up the work.
Parents will be ed a copy of the form once complete.

Students who turn in assignments that were previously marked incomplete will be asked to fill out an Assignment Complete Form.
This form will ask students to reflect on how they can improve their assignment turn in.

23. What are robotics and computer science?
Computer science is the study of the principles and use of computers.
Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application of robots.

24. Class Goals By the end of the class, all students should be able to:
Describe the purpose of automation and robotics and its effect on society.
Apply knowledge of mechanisms to solve a unique problem for speed, torque, force, or type of motion.
Describe the purpose of pseudocode and comments within a computer program.
Design, build, wire, and program both open and closed loop systems.
Use motors and sensors appropriately to solve robotic problems.
Troubleshoot a malfunctioning system using a methodical approach.
Explain the roles and responsibilities of mechanical, electrical, and computer engineers who solve robotic problems.

This class is run through Project Lead The Way (PLTW) which is a nationwide career- focused STEM curriculum.
Students will solve real-world problems and apply the engineering and design process to their thinking and end products.

Engineering combines the fields of science and math to solve real world problems that improve the world around us.
Technology is the collection of techniques, methods or processes used in the production of goods or services or in the accomplishment of objectives.
