Seventh Grade Curriculum 8.1 Hope and Future: Living out the Language of the Body

2 Bellwork Think about the people or organizations to whom you have made commitments. (You maybe have chores at home, or you babysit, or you are part of a team or a choir.) Answer the following questions regarding your commitments: 1. Choose one commitment and explain why you are glad you have made it. 2. What is challenging about that commitment? 3. What do you rely on in yourself to meet that commitment? What does it take?

3 Opening Prayer Oh, my Father, my soul longs to be united to You,
and to rest in You forever.  Have the Holy Spirit touch my soul so that I may love You as He does, and as Your Beloved Son Jesus does.  Amen.

4 Watch Watch the “Introduction” Watch “Big Questions” (until 12:30)

5 Story Starter Pass the microphone and read each paragraph of the story.

6 Bridging the Gap Please read pages and answer the following questions: How is chastity more than just abstinence ? Why is it important to say with the language of our bodies what is true about our relationships?

7 Language of the Body -We need three volunteers for each of the following demonstrations: How is the language of the body expressed within different relationships? Between male friends Between female friends Between parents and children The invisible gift of love between a husband and wife is expressed in the visible gift of their bodies. -Read Paragraph 3 on page 55.

8 Marriage Is a Total Gift of Self
“The total gift of the body – sex – expresses the truth of the relationship only when shared by two people who have made total gifts of themselves in marriage.”
