3 Migration Transition and the DTM?
- High daily mobility over long distances - High international emigration - Migration from rural to urban areas - High international immigration - Migration from cities to suburbs - Seasonal mobility in search of food For each characteristic, determine which stage of the DTM it would occur. The characteristics can be put in more than one stage.

4 Why do people migrate? (1.) Identify one ENVIRONMENTAL reason people migrate. (2.) Identify one POLITICAL reason people migrate. (3.) Identify one ECONOMIC reason people migrate. (4.) Identify the general regions that have net in/net out migration. Do this on a global scale and a national scale. (5.) Explain the difference between a refugee and an internally displaced person (IDP).

(1.) Select one country from each of these regions: (a.) Europe (b.) Asia (c.) Africa (2.) Identify the major trends regarding each country’s immigration and emigration data. (3.) Using your data as evidence, explain how migration is related to distance decay (see the model to the right). (4.) Using your data as evidence, explain how migration is related to cultural uniformity. (5.) For ONE of your migration flows, research and explain the reasons why people are migrating.
