Top panel: Skin secretions were collected from wild-caught South Indian frogs following mild electrical stimulation. DNA copies of expressed genes in skin secretions were sequenced and used for expression of short synthetic peptides. Bottom panel: Synthetic peptides were tested for antiviral activity against influenza type A H1 subtype viruses in cell culture and in mice.
