4 BA in History There are now four concentrations in the History BA to select from: Historical Studies (a general program in History) Pre-Law Concentration Public History Concentration Atlantic and Maritime Concentration

6 Common Double-Majors History and Political Science (if you take the BS in POLS, you do not need the FORL) History and English History and Anthropology History and Classical Civilization History and Religious Studies

8 Special Note for considering History as a 2nd Major
If you are enrolled in a BS program (e.g. BS in Chemistry, or Political Science), the FORL does not apply. You complete a 2nd major in History simply by completing the 36 s.h. of History courses in addition to the requirements for your BS degree

9 AP credit? A score of 3 or above in AP American History earns you credit for both HIST 1050 and HIST 1051 A score of 3 or above in AP European or AP World History earns you credit for both HIST 1030 and HIST 1031

13 You will see the professional advisors tomorrow at
ADVISING PROCESS “Intended” vs “declared” You will receive a professional advisor for your first 2-4 semesters (depends on how quickly you fulfill declaration requirements which vary by major) Once you are eligible to declare, you will leave your professional advisor and receive a faculty advisor who will guide you through graduation Degree Works Plan ( and look under “students  Degree Works” ) Over the summer, familiarize yourself with this tool The “worksheet” tab shows you major, minor, and general education requirements. This is your “Audit) The “plans” tab shows a sample plan to follow. You will work with your advisor during the fall semester to adjust this plan to meet your specific needs. Feel free to follow the tutorials on the website above and adjust your plan if you feel comfortable doing so. You will see the professional advisors tomorrow at 1:00 in Science & Tech C 207 *They will review your schedule and provide registration assistance
