2. The Verb Estar
Like SER, ESTAR is an IRREGULAR verb. It is not conjugated like other – AR verbs in Spanish.

3. The Verb Estar
It means “to be” in English.

It does NOT follow the pattern of REGULAR
-AR VERBS.

In writing, be sure to use the accent mark on all forms except the “yo” and “nosotros” forms.

8. ESTAR Yo estoy Tú estás Ud. Él está Ella

9. USE OF ESTAR
Estar is used to tell “location” of a person or a thing.

10. USE OF ESTAR For example: El libro está en la mesa.
The book is on the table.

11. USE OF ESTAR Maria y Carlos están en clase.
Maria and Carlos are in class.

12. USE OF ESTAR
Estar is also used to tell the condition of something or someone. (feelings, emotions, etc)

For example:
Maria está enferma.
Maria is sick.
