Pre-Programme Placement
Those who have not completed this placement will need to complete the tasks within the handbook during the focus days you have in school.

PLACEMENT DATES You will be in school every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Some of these days will be in specific contexts and some are focus days in your placement schools. The calendar looks like this….

FOCUS DAYS IN SPECIFIC CONTEXTS
You will be given a register and some observation guidance for each of the days you are in school next week It looks like this…. When you have completed your notes please upload these and your register to BOX.

DBS Those without DBS: keep phoning to ask for a progress report
let us know as soon as you have your DBS and bring it in so I can check it and let the placement office know You can’t go in to schools without it so any days missed will have to be added to the end of the programme.

KEY PERSONEL FOR PLACEMENT
Vicki Stokes Module Leader for Teaching Practice (EDP380) School Liaison Tutor (SLT) This will be a member of the Primary Team, who could be one of our Associate Tutors. School Mentor This will be a member of the school staff and this person will support your development through the placement. It may be your host class teacher , but this is not always the case.

MY ROLE Write the documentation and ensure it is shared with all stakeholders. Send regular s reminding students, SLTs and school mentors about the expectations for the week – everyone gets the same messages! Track progress of all trainees and ensure support is put in place early The moderation process – particularly in the case of any trainees at risk of failing their placement.

SCHOOL LIAISON TUTORS Support you in school – first contact for any queries/issues Visit twice – more if additional support is required Keep in contact via Moderate by completing a joint observation during one visit

SCHOOL MENTORS Receive training each year from University staff
Updates on changes to paperwork and expectations Are included within communications so everyone gets the same messages

TEACHING PRACTICE PART 1
FOCUS DAYS – with tasks to complete 6 WEEKS ASSESSED PLACEMENT – gradually developing your teaching commitment to allow you to gain confidence PAIRED PLACEMENT – for additional support at the beginning of your journey TWO ASSESSMENT POINTS – one at mid-point and one at the end WEEKLY FEEDBACK FROM MENTORS - on how pupils are progressing in their learning

TEACHING PRACTICE PART 2
FOCUS DAYS – with tasks to complete 9 WEEKS ASSESSED PLACEMENT – gradually developing your teaching commitment to allow you to gain confidence 2 SPECIALISM WEEKS – allowing you to focus on the enhancement subject you choose to study within EPDM97 TWO ASSESSMENT POINTS – one at mid-point and one at the end WEEKLY FEEDBACK FROM MENTORS - on how pupils are progressing in their learning

CAN YOU ORGANISE YOUR OWN PLACEMENT?
YES! If you have connections with schools then the placement team will be willing to approach these for your placements.

ADDITIONAL SESSIONS There are several additional sessions planned where information about Teaching Practice will be discussed. Paperwork will be introduced during these sessions and can be a little daunting at first. It all makes sense once you are in school using it on a daily basis.
