Figure 2 | Schematic representation of intrinsic subtypes of bladder cancer143. Muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) is a clinically heterogeneous disease. Using whole-genome mRNA expression profiling, several groups have defined molecular subtypes of MIBC reminiscent of those found in breast cancer. Direct comparisons of tumour subtype assignments made by the four groups have shown great similarities. Molecular subtypes of MIBC might have important implications for patient prognosis and response to conventional chemotherapy and targeted agents.
