8. Australian Institute of International Affairs The AIIAs mission is to promote interest in and understanding of international affairs in Australia. It is an independent, non-profit organisation established in 1924. The AIIA is funded through memberships, events, publications, property rental and a small grant from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. It has a small paid staff but more than 150 volunteers. Aims
