What is a Title I School? Receives federal funding (Title I dollars) to supplement the school’s existing programs: To provide high-quality education so that all students will meet the state student performance standards Identifies students experiencing academic difficulties and provides timely assistance to help these student’s meet the challenging State academic standards Supplemental staff, programs, materials, supplies Parent and Family Engagement meetings, trainings, activities Recruiting/Hiring/Retaining Highly Effective Teachers San Antonio ISD - Annual Title I Meeting

School-wide Program WHAT IS A SCHOOL-WIDE PROGRAM? A school-wide program-- Purpose is to upgrade the entire educational program in order to raise academic achievement for all students Is built on school-wide reform strategies, rather than separate, add-on services Provides flexibility in spending Title I funds Permits flexibility to coordinate with other funds in support of the school-wide program Focuses on results San Antonio ISD - Annual Title I Meeting

What is the 1% set-aside and how are parents involved?
A school district with a Title I Allocation is required by law to set aside (reserve) 1% of it’s Title I allocation for parent and family engagement: Of that 1% set aside, 10% may be reserved at the district level for system-wide initiatives related to parent and family engagement. The remaining 90% must be allocated to all Title I schools in the district. Each Title I school receives its portion of the 90% to implement school-level parent and family engagement. Eligible Parent and Family Engagement expenditures
Expenses directly related to the Parent and Family Engagement program. What is a CNA and CIP? The CNA & CIP are the school’s Comprehensive Needs Assessment and Campus Improvement Plan. Components include: A Needs Assessment and Summary of Data Goals, Performance Objectives and Strategies to Address Academic Needs of Students Professional Development Needs Coordination of Resources/Comprehensive Budget A family component to address parent and family engagement Title I parents have the right to be involved in the development of these plans. What’s included in the school’s Parent and Family Engagement Policy?
This policy addresses how the school will implement the parent and family engagement requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Components include: How parents can be involved in decision-making and activities How parent and family engagement funds are being used How information and training will be provided to parents How the school will build capacity in parents and staff for strong parent and family engagement Title I parents have the right to be involved in the development of the Parent and Family Engagement Policy. Teacher Qualifications

Timely Notification Title I Part A campus provides timely notice that the student has been assigned, or has been taught for 4 or more consecutive weeks by, a teacher who does not meet applicable State certification or licensure requirements at the grade level and subject area in which the teacher has been assigned.
