2 Background: Illinois Hepatitis Prevention Project
2000 State Initiative: Provide hepatitis B vaccination to 15% of eligible STD clinic clients Establish Risk Assessment System (RAS) Identify barriers to hepatitis B vaccination 2000 VHIP Initiative Train service providers Fund 5 pilots- hepatitis B outreach to at-risk clients Pilot system to collect return rate data Perform hepatitis B and C testing on clients with IDU-related or MSM risk

2001 State Initiative: Provide hepatitis B vaccination to 24% of eligible STD clients Establish an improved system to collect and link RAS, lab & vaccination data 2001 VHIP Initiatives Funded Seven Pilots to: Provide hepatitis A (42%) and hepatitis B (54%) to IDUs and/or MSMs Perform hepatitis B and C testing on clients with IDU-related risk only
