Engineering design process
Engineered Entrepreneurs
2
What is the engineering design process?
The 5 step process engineers follow to create or improve items. Engineers follow the design while creating and developing items that improve our everyday lives.
3
Step 1 - Ask a Question What are the problems?
What are the constraints (the limitations)? By asking questions to solve a problem or improve an item can positively impact the quality of our world.
4
Step 2 - Imagine Brainstorm ideas that you could improve or create.
Research your ideas and see if an item exists and how can you make it better.
5
Step 3 - Plan Draw a diagram of the prototype.
Draw the parts of the prototype. Gather the materials needed to build the prototype.
6
What is a prototype? A model of your design, a piece by piece drawing of your product to build. Prototypes are often built at a smaller scale.
7
Step 4 - Create The fourth step in the process is to CREATE your design. Follow the plan you developed. Once the prototype is built, test it OUT!
8
Step 5 - improve TOLL HOUSE COOKIES
Ask yourself if the prototype you built works the way you designed it. If not, you modify the design until it meets your design needs. Engineers build and rebuild their designs to make them better, stronger, faster, and work quickly. With overall endless possibilities. By repeating the design steps 1- 5 is just part of the fun of being an engineer. TOLL HOUSE COOKIES

Student’s engineering project
Goal: Create a product that can be used for practical purposes. Updated from previous years. Most of this project will be completed at home. This year’s theme. Engineered Entrepreneurs #sharktankedition

Looks & Look Outs Not looking for: Looking for:
-volcanoes -scientific method projects -projects printed directly from the Internet -Late submissions (We have over 100 students) -catapults Looking for: -innovative ideas (#sharktank) -engineering projects that fit the requirements -practical products that could help others -students to display their understanding of the process
